Checked October 5, 2026. Grok Bot launched August 11 and added Team Bots on September 28, so several comparison pages online are already out of date. Grok Bot's details come from its official docs plus reviews. Octopus22's come from our own product.
Terms used: single sign-on (SSO) lets staff log in with their company account, and SAML and OIDC are two kinds of it. SCIM adds and removes users automatically from your company directory. MCP is a standard way to plug other tools into an AI.

What each one is
Grok Bot is "AI teammates with names, jobs, and context that compounds over time" (Grok Bot docs). It comes from SpaceXAI, through its Cursor unit, and launched in beta on August 11, 2026. By mid-September it had 418,000 weekly users (PYMNTS). On September 28 it added Team Bots, shared AI teammates for a team (Grok Bot docs).
Octopus22 lets you hire AI teammates with names and roles that work in shared conversations with your people. An AI model decides which teammates each message is for, and they share one Company Brain memory.
The biggest difference: how people and agents work together
Grok Bot offers two ways to work together:
- Group chats hold 2 to 6 bots, and you direct work with @Bot or @everyone (docs).
- Team Bots let an owner set a bot up once and share it. Each teammate chats with it privately, and in Slack channels it answers when @mentioned.
Octopus22 is built around shared conversations:
- Several people and several teammates are in the same room.
- An AI model reads each message and wakes the teammates it's for. When you name a teammate, the model is told to wake that one.
- Teammates hand work to each other and can bring in people when they need a decision.
Computers, browsers and teaching
Both give each agent its own screen on a shared cloud computer:
- Grok Bot runs one computer per account (docs).
- Octopus22 runs one computer per member, with a screen per teammate.
In both, an account's agents share one computer, so files and website logins aren't kept separate between them. In both, you take over the screen for logins and two-step login codes.
Grok Bot has a feature Octopus22 doesn't: you can teach a task by recording yourself doing it in the browser, for up to 10 minutes, and it becomes a reusable skill (docs). It can also pass coding tasks to Cursor.
What starts the work
Grok Bot routines run on a schedule or on events, which its docs list as Slack messages and GitHub notifications, up to 50 routines per bot (docs).
Octopus22 teammates set their own schedules but can't yet be started by outside events.
Where they work
Grok Bot has desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. Team Bots can join your Slack, and you can approve actions from Slack (docs).
Octopus22 is a web app, usable on a phone browser, with no native mobile app and no Slack presence.
Approvals and control
Grok Bot:
- An independent review model checks risky actions, with Allow once, Always allow or Deny.
- Approval is required for "sending, purchasing, deleting, publishing, or changing production systems".
- Team rules, audit logs and action recording are Enterprise-only (docs).
Octopus22:
- Before a teammate sends, pays, deletes or cancels something through a connected app or in its browser, an AI check pauses it until the teammate's owner approves. Reading runs freely. Its own tools, like hiring a teammate or scheduling, and commands it runs on its own computer aren't checked.
- Owners can set each tool to "always allow", "always ask" or off.
- On a shared teammate, colleagues wait on the owner for every approval, and can open and drive its screen, which is signed in as the owner.
- The audit log is on the Ultra plan.
