Everyone is calling their AI a "teammate" now: Asana, Slack, Microsoft, OpenAI, Lindy and more. The word covers very different products, from a project bot that writes status updates to an always-on agent with its own computer.
This guide cuts through it. It sets out fair criteria, then covers 11 real options grouped by where your team already works, because that matters more than any feature list.
Disclosure: we make Octopus22, which is on this list. Three of the five top-ranking pages for this search are written by vendors that list themselves first. We haven't ranked: products are grouped by where they live, not scored. Every claim is sourced, competitor-written sources are labeled, and Octopus22 has no independent reviews yet, so the claims about it are ours. Checked October 5, 2026.
What makes an AI teammate?
An AI teammate is an AI agent that works with a team, not just for one person. These are the questions worth asking of any product:
- Shared or personal? Can the whole team use it in group conversations, or is it one-to-one? Is its memory personal, shared, or both?
- Initiative: does it pick up work and keep going without a new prompt?
- Ability to act: does it take real actions in your tools, or mostly summarize?
- Checkpoints: does it ask before risky actions, respect permissions and keep an audit trail?
- Where it lives: inside one tool, or across your tools?
- Predictable price: seats or credits, and what happens when credits run out?
- Maturity: is it generally available or in beta, and do independent reviews exist?
Inside your work tool
These live inside one app and are strongest when your work already lives there.
Asana AI Teammates
Agents with set roles, like Status Reporter or Bug Investigator, that live inside Asana projects. They're shared across the team, keep a memory of how the team works, respect existing permissions and stop at checkpoints. Available since March 17, 2026, as a sales-led add-on for Starter plans and up (Asana).
Best for: teams that run their work in Asana. Drawback: works only inside Asana, and pricing isn't published.
Atlassian Rovo
Agents that use Atlassian's map of your work across Jira and Confluence, included in Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans with a pool of credits (Atlassian).
Best for: teams on Jira and Confluence. Drawback: centered on Atlassian, and extra usage is switched on by default at $0.01 per credit (Atlassian).
Notion Custom Agents
Agents that work across your Notion workspace, on Business ($20 per member a month) and Enterprise plans, with extra credits at $10 per 1,000 (Notion pricing).
Best for: teams whose work lives in Notion. Drawback: agents run on paid Notion credits, and they're most useful when everything is in Notion.
monday.com Agent Factory
Agents that run on monday boards, from a free plan with one agent to $49 a month for 10 agents and 5,000 credits (monday.com).
Best for: teams on monday.com. Drawback: agents pause when credits run out.
Inside your team chat
These live where your team talks, in Slack or Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams: Channel Agent and Facilitator
Channel Agent is "an AI teammate for every channel", grounded in the channel's chats and meetings (public preview). Facilitator takes notes and helps run meetings (generally available). Copilot Business, which includes Facilitator, costs $21 per user a month on an annual plan ($18 under a promotion through December 2026) (Microsoft, pricing).
Best for: organizations on Microsoft 365. Drawback: Channel Agent is still in preview and only works inside Microsoft's tools.
Slackbot
Slack's AI agent, repositioned in 2026 as "the ultimate teammate", with meeting monitoring and coordination of other agents (No Jitter). It's on Business+ ($15 per user a month on an annual plan) and up (Slack pricing).
Best for: Slack teams that want answers, recaps and coordination. Drawback: its action features, such as computer use and CRM updates, are rolling out through 2026 and center on Salesforce and Agentforce.
Viktor
An "AI coworker" in Slack, Teams and Discord. It reads channels, offers to take on tasks and does them, with its own compute, 3,200+ integrations and memory shared across the workspace. It's priced per workspace with no seat fees, from $50 a month, and unused credits roll over (Viktor).
Best for: lean teams that live in chat. Drawback: costs grow with use. It has SOC 2 Type I, with Type II and ISO 27001 in progress (Viktor).
Lindy
Relaunched in August 2026 as a teammate you add to Slack channels, where anyone can hand it work. Team plans start at $29.99 per seat a month for 3,000 pooled credits, and it pauses rather than overcharging when credits run out (Lindy pricing).
Best for: small teams automating email, meetings and Slack work. Drawback: credit-based, and its Trustpilot rating is 1.7 out of 5 from 40 reviews (Trustpilot).
Agents with their own app
These have their own app or workspace, and some also reach into Slack or Teams.
Grok Bot Team Bots
A shared bot with its own cloud computer, plugins and memory. It runs in Grok Bot's desktop and mobile apps, and you can also invite it into Slack channels. Each person's chats stay private, with shared team memory, and its skills are shared. Public beta since September 28, 2026 (x.ai, docs).
Best for: engineering and ops teams, and teams already on Cursor or SuperGrok. Drawback: a week old in beta, with no independent reviews and no official seat price.
OpenAI Dots and ChatGPT Space
Always-on agents with their own cloud computer, reachable in ChatGPT, Slack and Teams. ChatGPT Space is a shared workspace where people, ChatGPT and Dots edit the same pages. Dots are personal first: company-owned "specialist Dots" are only in pilots. Your first Dot comes with ChatGPT Pro, Business Premium or Enterprise (VentureBeat).
Best for: teams already on ChatGPT. Drawback: personal rather than team-owned, and brand new.
Octopus22
A dedicated workspace where several people and several AI teammates share the same conversations. An AI model routes each message to the teammates it's for, and teammates can hand work to each other, run helpers in parallel and create new teammates. They share one Company Brain learned from your conversations, each works on its own screen of a cloud computer in 500+ apps, and by default an AI check pauses actions that look like sending, paying or deleting so a person can approve them.
Price: $49, $99 or $199 per member a month, with 40,000, 80,000 or 160,000 credits per member included (model cost plus 25%). When credits run out, work pauses until you buy more or the next billing period starts. The 7-day free trial includes 10,000 credits and needs no card.
Best for: small teams that want people and several agents in one dedicated space. Drawbacks:
- No independent reviews yet, and no published SOC 2 report.
- It doesn't live in Slack or Teams, and can't yet be started by outside events.
- A shared teammate acts with its owner's connected accounts, and private chats can feed the shared memory.
- Credit-based, with 3, 6 or 12 teammates working at once depending on plan. SSO and audit logs need the $199 plan.

How to choose
- Start with where your team already works. Asana, Jira, Notion, monday, Slack or Teams each has a strong built-in option. Try that first.
- Need it to act across many tools, not just one? Look at Viktor, Lindy, Grok Bot, Dots or Octopus22.
- Want people and several agents working together in one place? Microsoft's agents in Teams, Grok Bot's Team Bots in its app and Slack, ChatGPT Space with Dots, or Octopus22's dedicated workspace.
- Check maturity. Several of these are weeks old. Run a real trial before committing a team.
